Overview

Pichr allows age-appropriate adult content with proper restrictions. All users must be at least 13 years old to use the platform, and must be 18 years or older to view age-restricted content.

How Age Verification Works

Automatic NSFW Detection

Every image uploaded to Pichr is automatically scanned using Cloudflare Workers AI:

  1. AI Scanning: Content is analyzed for NSFW indicators
  2. Score Assignment: Images receive a score from 0.0 (safe) to 1.0 (explicit)
  3. Automatic Flagging: Content scoring ≥0.7 is automatically age-restricted
  4. Auto-Removal: Content scoring ≥0.9 is automatically blocked and removed

Categories Analyzed:

  • Adult/Sexual content
  • Violence or gore
  • Offensive material
  • Medical/surgical content

Age Confirmation Process

First-Time Viewing

When you encounter age-restricted content for the first time:

  1. Age Gate Display

    • Content is blurred or hidden
    • “You must be 18+ to view this content” message appears
    • “I am 18 or older” button is shown

  2. Confirmation

    • Click “I am 18 or older” button
    • Your confirmation is stored in your account
    • You won’t be asked again for future age-restricted content

  3. Access Granted

    • Content is revealed
    • You can now view all age-restricted content on Pichr

Revoking Confirmation

If you want to re-enable age gates:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy
  2. Find “Age-Restricted Content” section
  3. Click “Reset Age Confirmation”
  4. You’ll be prompted again when viewing restricted content

Safe Mode

What is Safe Mode?

Safe Mode is a filter that hides all age-restricted content from your Pichr experience:

  • Default: ON for users who haven’t confirmed 18+
  • Effect: Hides or blurs NSFW content automatically
  • Scope: Dashboard, galleries, search, and all browse pages

How to Toggle Safe Mode

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy
  2. Find “Safe Mode” toggle
  3. Switch ON (hide NSFW) or OFF (show NSFW)

Note: Even with Safe Mode OFF, you still need to confirm 18+ the first time you view age-restricted content.

What Content is Age-Restricted?

Allowed (With Age Gate)

✅ Artistic nudity or sexual content ✅ Medical or educational content (e.g., surgery, anatomy) ✅ Mature themes (violence in video games, horror) ✅ Adult language or suggestive themes

Requirements:

  • Must not violate UK law
  • Must not depict illegal activity
  • Must not depict minors in sexual situations
  • Must not violate community guidelines

Prohibited (Always Blocked)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to upload ID to verify my age?

No. Pichr uses soft age verification (self-declaration). You simply confirm you are 18+ by clicking a button. This is compliant with UK regulations for platforms like Pichr that don’t have public discovery features.

What if I accidentally confirm I’m 18+ but I’m not?

If you are under 18 and mistakenly confirmed your age:

  1. Email us immediately at: safety@pichr.io
  2. We will reset your age confirmation
  3. Your account will be reviewed to ensure compliance

Important: Lying about your age violates our Terms of Service and may result in account suspension.

Can I view age-restricted content on someone else’s computer?

Age confirmation is tied to your account, not your device. You’ll need to log in to your account and confirm your age on each new device or browser.

Why was my content age-restricted?

Content is age-restricted if:

  • AI scan detected NSFW score ≥0.7
  • Manual moderator review determined it should be restricted
  • Multiple users reported it as inappropriate

Can I appeal an age restriction on my content?

Yes. If you believe your content was incorrectly age-restricted:

  1. Email: appeals@pichr.io
  2. Include: Image ID and reason for appeal
  3. Our team will review within 5 business days

Does age restriction affect my account standing?

No. Having age-restricted content does not negatively impact your account, as long as the content complies with our policies. It simply means users must confirm they’re 18+ to view it.

What about content that’s borderline (NSFW score 0.65-0.75)?

Content with NSFW scores near the 0.7 threshold may be manually reviewed:

  • 0.65-0.69: Not age-restricted, but may be flagged for review
  • 0.70-0.75: Age-restricted, but may be appealed if you believe it’s safe

If you disagree with an age restriction, use our appeals process.

Reporting Underage Users

If you suspect a user is under 13:

  1. Email: safety@pichr.io
  2. Include: Username and reason for suspicion
  3. Response: We’ll investigate and take appropriate action

We take age requirements seriously and will permanently ban users found to be underage.

Reporting Inappropriate Content

If you see content that should be age-restricted but isn’t:

  1. Click the Report button on the image
  2. Select “Adult Content (not age-restricted)”
  3. Provide details about why it should be restricted
